WIPO China: DDG Wang Binying Attended World Intelligent Manufacturing Conference via Video
Nanjing, November 27 - The 2025 World Intelligent Manufacturing Conference (WIMC) opened in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. With the theme of “Digital Intelligence at the Core: Powering New Quality Productive Forces”, the WIMC is co-hosted by the People’s Government of Jiangsu Province and the International Coalition of Intelligence Manufacturing. Ms. Wang Binying, Deputy Director General of WIPO, gave opening remarks via video at the Forum on Intelligent Manufacturing Empowered by Intellectual Property under the WIMC. Ms. Liu Hua, Director of WIPO Office in China, attended the Opening Ceremony of WIMC and delivered a keynote speech at the Forum.
Wang Binying stated that intelligence manufacturing is driving the global industrial transformation and upgrading with unprecedented force, echoing the common pursuit of high-quality and sustainable development among nations. Innovation serves as the core driver of intelligence manufacturing, and each technological breakthrough relies on the creation, protection, and application of intellectual property. The intellectual property system not only safeguards innovative achievements but also provides solid support for technological collaboration, IP commercialization, and fair competition.
Wang Binying noted that WIPO, as a specialized agency of the United Nations, remains committed to promoting the protection, application, and sharing of innovation and creativity. By establishing a balanced, inclusive, and forward-looking IP ecosystem, it supports global economic, social, cultural, and technological development. WIPO provides international IP services for global innovators and creators, including patents, trademarks, industrial designs, geographical indications, and alternative dispute resolution solutions, while supporting the member states in building dynamic innovation ecosystems.
In her keynote speech titled “Intellectual Property Development in the Age of Artificial Intelligence”, Liu Hua stated that artificial intelligence is redefining the concept of "creation", presenting unprecedented opportunities and challenges for the intellectual property system. She proposed four feasible pathways based on WIPO’s practices: norm-setting, information and best practice sharing, data security and privacy protection, and sustainable and inclusive development. She said that WIPO will continue to provide innovators and decision-makers with insights through continuously publishing related reports and building knowledge repositories.
Mr. Hu Wenhui, Deputy Commissioner of China National Intellectual Property Administration, and Mr. Ma Xin, Executive Vice Governor of Jiangsu Province, attended and addressed the Forum. Ms. Lei Xiaoyun, Secretary General of the Patent Protection Association of China, released the “Patent Navigation Report on the Humanoid Robot Industry”. Experts from home and abroad shared cutting-edge perspectives and profound insights on themes including IP and regional economic development, IP and intelligence manufacturing, as well as IP and artificial intelligence. The Forum brought together over 160 representatives from government departments, universities, enterprises, and associations.
