The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Royal Government of Cambodia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish an IP Business Center (IPBC) in Cambodia. The Center will provide a permanent platform to expand intellectual property services for Cambodian entrepreneurs, startups, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The MoU was signed at WIPO Headquarters in Geneva during a bilateral meeting between WIPO Director General Daren Tang and a Cambodian delegation led by H.E. CHAM Nimul, Minister of Commerce.
The IPBC will serve as Cambodia’s central hub for business-focused IP services. Its core services will include:
- Guidance to help SMEs, startups and innovators identify, protect and manage their intellectual assets, including patents, trademarks, industrial designs, geographical indications and copyright;
- Training, workshops and awareness activities to help businesses use IP as a tool for protection, competitiveness and growth.
The IPBC comes as Cambodia continues to move toward higher-value industries increasingly driven by intangible assets, innovation and knowledge. It is designed to help SMEs and entrepreneurs make better use of IP and participate more effectively in regional and global value chains.
With the signing of the MoU, Cambodia joins a growing ASEAN network of national IP Business Centers supporting innovation, entrepreneurship and business competitiveness.
WIPO will support the long-term sustainability and impact of the Center as part of its broader cooperation with Cambodia and its SME and innovation ecosystem
