The Law Amending the National Drug Law
(The Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Law No. 22/ 2014)
The 2nd Waxing of Tagu, 1375 M.E.
(1st April, 2014)
The Pyidaungsu Hluttaw hereby enacts this Law.
1. This Law shall be called the Law Amending the National Drug Law.
2. Section 4 of the National Drug Law shall be substituted as follows:
“The Government shall form the Myanmar Food and Drug Board of Authority consisting of the following
persons:
(a) Union Minister Chairman
Ministry of Health
(b) Deputy Minister Vice-Chairman
Ministry of Health
(c) Director of Medical Services Member
Ministry of Defence
(d) Director-General Member
General Administration Department
Ministry of Home Affairs
(e) Director-General Member
Department of Health

3. The expression “fine which may extend from a minimum of kyats 5,000 to a maximum of kyats 50,000”
contained in section 18 and sub-section (a) of section 19 of the National Drug Law shall be substituted
respectively by the expression “fine which may extend from a minimum of fifty thousand kyats to a
maximum of five hundred thousand kyats”.
4. The expression “fine which may extend from a minimum of kyats 1,000 to a maximum of kyats 10,000”
contained in sub-section (b) of section 19 of the National Drug Law shall be substituted by the expression
“fine which may extend from a minimum of ten thousand kyats to a maximum of one hundred thousand
kyats”.
5. The expression “fine which may extend from a minimum of kyats 500 to a maximum of kyats 5,000”
contained in section 20 of the National Drug Law shall be substituted by the expression “fine which may
extend from a minimum of five thousand kyats to a maximum of fifty thousands kyats”.
6. Section 32 of the National Drug Law shall be substituted as follows:
“32. In implementing the provisions of this Law:
(a) the Ministry of Health may issue rules, regulations and by-laws, as may be necessary, with the
approval of the government;

(b) the Ministry of Health and the Myanmar Food and Drug Board of Authority may issue notifications,
orders, directives and procedures as may be necessary.”
