From winning China's first national university business plan competition to building China's first publicly listed digital publishing company, Zhilei (Ray) Tong has spent more than two decades shaping the intersection of culture, technology and innovation. As Founder, Chairman and President of COL Group, he has transformed the company from a digital publishing pioneer into a global cultural technology enterprise spanning intellectual property development, artificial intelligence and digital entertainment.

Founded in 2000, COL Group has grown into one of the world’s leading digital content platforms, with over 4.6 million authors, partnerships with more than 600 copyright institutions, and a user base exceeding 100 million people. The company continues to pioneer new forms of digital storytelling, including global micro-drama platforms and AI-powered content creation.

A longstanding advocate for intellectual property protection, Tong founded the China Online Anti-Piracy Union (COAPU) in 2005, promoting stronger copyright governance and sustainable creative industries through collaboration between technology, legal systems and rights holders.

Recognized as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2014 and named Cultural Industry Figure of the Year in China in 2015, Tong continues to champion the role of innovation, international cooperation and emerging technologies in expanding access to culture and supporting the next generation of creative industries. He holds an engineering degree from Tsinghua University and an International MBA jointly delivered by Tsinghua University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and is a 2025 Fellow of Harvard University's Advanced Leadership Initiative.
