Mr. Director General, Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen, it is a great honor for me to address this important gathering on behalf of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

In the last nine years Uzbekistan has risen by 40 positions, in the Global Innovation Index, reaching its 83rd place in 2024.

This reflects the country's steady progress in building an innovation driven economy.

Strong achievements have been met in institutions, human capital and research, infrastructure and market sophistication.

Uzbekistan is now among the regional leaders in the number of science and engineering graduates, growth of the investment and labor productivity.

Special attention is given to school and higher education as the foundation of future innovations.

The President of Uzbekistan has defined innovation as a strategic priority, ensuring legal stability, scaling human capital, model infrastructure and a favorable business climate.

Social projects are also being implemented to support economic growth and intellectual potential of citizens, such as 1 Million Programmers Initiative and major projects in the field of intellectual property.

Together with the World Intellectual Property Organization, we are working on a new IP strategy that responds to digital transformation and the rapid growth of AI.

Uzbekistan is committed to digitalizing public services, developing the IP system and actively supporting businesses, startups and innovators.

Looking ahead, our goals is to build in knowledge and innovation based economy by supporting young people, encouraging cooperation between universities and industry, and harmonizing our IP system with international standards.

We believe this will strengthen our integration into global value chains.

Uzbekistan also proposes that WIPO provide more detailed analysis of best practices of leading countries, in the Index, tailored to the needs of developing economies.

We are grateful to WIPO for its strong support and look forward to continuing our close partenership.

Through reforms, education and international cooperation, Uzbekistan will continue to rise in the Global Innovation Index and build a society where knowledge and innovation grow together.

Thank you for your attention.
