The Alliance of Technology Transfer Professionals (ATTP)is an international professional body dedicated to strengthening global standards, competencies, and ethical practice in knowledge and technology transfer (K/TT). ATTP is widely recognized for its professional accreditation frameworks, including the Registered Technology Transfer Professional (RTTP), which supports the professionalization of technology transfer (TT) practitioners across diverse innovation ecosystems.

WIPO and ATTP share a strong commitment to advancing effective intellectual property (IP) management and TT as key drivers of innovation-led economic and social development. Both organizations recognize that skilled, well-trained professionals are essential for translating research and innovation into real-world impact.

Through this partnership, WIPO and ATTP will collaborate to:

  • Align and mutually recognize professional competencies in knowledge and technology transfer,
  • Enhance the relevance, quality, and reach of training and capacity-building programs,
  • Support national and regional technology transfer associations, with a particular focus on developing and emerging economies,
  • Increase awareness of, and access to, ATTP’s internationally recognized accreditation pathways,
  • Contribute jointly to thought leadership in IP commercialization and K/TT policy and practice.

The MoU reinforces a shared mission to empower TT professionals worldwide to drive impactful, ethical, and sustainable knowledge transfer. It also provides a framework for expanded cooperation aimed at strengthening institutional and human capacity, improving professional standards, and supporting more effective innovation ecosystems globally. This partnership represents not only a milestone moment for both organizations, but also the beginning of deeper collaboration to support global innovation through professional excellence in technology transfer.
