Trademark Data Validation and Verification Project Completed in Zimbabwe

In 2025, the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO), in cooperation with the Zimbabwe Intellectual Property Office (ZIPO) with support from the Funds-In-Trust Japan Industrial Property Global, completed a data validation and verification project of ZIPO’s trademark files and documents.

The project aimed to enhance the quality and accuracy of ZIPO’s trademark data in preparation for online services and to improve the quality of data exchange.

Under this project, approximately 103,000 trademark files were validated and verified.

The successful completion of the ZIPO Trademark Verification and Validation Project marks a critical milestone in the modernization and strengthening of Zimbabwe’s intellectual property infrastructure.

The outcomes of this initiative will not only improve operational efficiency within ZIPO but also enhance public confidence in the transparency and reliability of trademark registration processes. Furthermore, the digitization and verification of trademark records lay a strong foundation for further digital transformation and automation in Zimbabwe’s IP ecosystem.
