WIPO is bringing its One-Day IP Workshop for Startups to Rio Innovation Week 2026, taking place from August 4–7, 2026, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The workshop offers 10 selected startups a unique opportunity to receive personalized, one-on-one guidance from IP experts. Ahead of the event, participating startups will complete WIPO's IP Diagnostics tool, which will serve as the basis for tailored discussions on how IP can support their business objectives.
Who can apply?
Startups that:
- Have an innovative product, technology, or service
- Are interested in strengthening their IP strategy
- Are willing to complete the WIPO IP Diagnostics process prior to the event
- Have a confirmed representative attending Rio Innovation week 2026 *
*This is an in-person workshop and selected participants are expected to attend onsite during the Innovation week in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
How does it work?
Selected startups will:
- Complete WIPO's IP Diagnostics assessment before the event;
- Receive a dedicated one-on-one consultation with an IP expert during Rio Innovation Week;
- Discuss practical IP challenges and opportunities specific to their business;
- Obtain tailored recommendations on how to use IP to support growth, partnerships and investment readiness.

- Better understand the value of their IP assets;
- Learn how IP can support business growth and competitiveness;
- Receive practical guidance from experienced IP professionals;
- Have access to resources designed for startups and SMEs.
- Receive a pass to attend the Rio Innovation Week
How to apply
Startups interested in participating must apply by July 25, 2026. Selection will be made on a rolling basis, with only 10 places available.
