NEWSSuccessful 2014 for WIPO Re:Search
During its third full year of existence, WIPO Re:Search partner BIO Ventures for Global Health (BVGH) brokered 38 new agreements in 2014, more than double the original target for the year. As the year drew to a close, WIPO Re:Search had 82 collaborations in place after the addition of 14 new members, including six institutions located in less-developed regions, where most of the people living with neglected tropical diseases, tuberculosis and malaria are found.
One year of WIPO GREEN
In late 2013, WIPO GREEN was launched to promote innovation and diffusion of green technologies by connecting technology and service providers with those seeking innovative solutions.
It has been a year marked by rapid development. WIPO GREEN now includes 53 partner organizations drawn from five continents and its database lists over 1,700 green technology products, services and intellectual property (IP) assets available for commercialization or licensing. In November, the UN Office for South South Cooperation awarded WIPO GREEN its Innovation Prize for its pioneering work in facilitating green technology transfer to developing countries.RESOURCES ON IP ASSET MANAGEMENT
IP PANORAMA Multimedia Toolkit

Non-linear Correction in Market Method of Patent Valuation
This paper proposes a novel methodology of non-linear corrections in the market model of patent valuation, when factors such as time to expiration, copying risk, or momentum in patent life cycle are taken into consideration. The proposed approach, based on evidence of the non-linear impact over time of the abovementioned factors on the value of patent, is anchored primarily in marketing science as well as in the theory and practice of accounting. This fine-tuning raises the accuracy and credibility of the market method of patent valuation.
IPAN: Improving IP Awareness and Understanding in the UK
The Intellectual Property Awareness Network (IPAN) is a unique, independent network of organizations and individuals committed to improving awareness and understanding of intellectual property (IP) and its impact on business in the UK. Members include a wide range of commercial, financial, professional and academic organizations, all with a shared enthusiasm for IP and a passionate belief in its critical role in the developing knowledge economy.
PATENTSCOPE
The PATENTSCOPE database provides access to international Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) applications in full text format on the day of publication, as well as to patent documents of participating National and Regional Patent Offices. The information may be searched by entering keywords, names of applicants, international patent classification and many other search criteria in multiple languages.
Patent Landscape
WIPO reports in areas of particular interest to developing and least developed countries, such as public health, food security, climate change and environment.Patent landscape reports provide a snap-shot of the patent situation of a specific technology, either within a given country or region, or globally.
ARDI Research for Innovation
The Access to Research for Development and Innovation (ARDI) program provides free access to major scientific and technical journals for local, not-for-profit institutions in least-developed countries; and low-cost access to industrial property offices in developing countries.
ASPI Specialized Patent Information
The Access to Specialized Patent Information (ASPI) program is a public-private partnership administered by WIPO and made possible through cooperation with leading patent information providers. Through the ASPI program, eligible patent offices and academic and research institutions in developing countries can receive free or low-cost access to sophisticated tools and services for retrieving and analyzing patent data.
TISC - Technology and Innovation Support Centers
TheWIPO Technology and Innovation Support Center (TISC) program provides innovators in developing countries with access to locally based, high quality technology information and related services, helping them to exploit their innovative potential and to create, protect, and manage their intellectual property (IP) rights.
FORTHCOMING EVENTS
WIPO Summer Schools
WIPO, in cooperation with the partners, will hold summer schools in 2015 in New Delhi, Shanghai, Singapore, Mexico City, Geneva, St. Petersburg, Daejeon, Alexandria, and Durban. Registration is now open for New Delhi and Shanghai, which will take place from March 2 to 13, and May 4 to 15, 2015, respectively.
The purpose of the WIPO summer schools is to provide deeper knowledge on each domain of IP to senior students and young professionals and to orient them towards the interface between IP and other disciplines. East meets West 2015, Forum on Asian Patent Information, April 23 24, 2015, Vienna, Austria
"East meets West" is the EPO's annual forum on Asian patent information. The forum serves as a regular platform for patent information users around the world to discuss their Asian patent information needs.
