WIPO中国：邓鸿森总干事视频出席第二届“一带一路”科技交流大会

June 11, Chengdu - the Second Belt and Road Conference on Science and Technology Exchange (BRST Conference) was opened in Southwest China's Chengdu municipality. Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang delivered a keynote speech. Wang Xiaohui, Party Secretary of Sichuan Province delivered a welcoming speech. Yin Hejun, Minister of Science and Technology, presided over the Opening Ceremony. Daren Tang, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), sent a video message. Carsten Fink, Chief Economist of WIPO, attended the Conference and participated in related activities.

Ding Xuexiang said that China has been working with all parties to continuously implement the science and technology innovation cooperation plan under the Belt and Road Initiative, injecting strong impetus into the high-quality Belt and Road cooperation. He called for enhanced solidarity and cooperation, deeply implementing the International Science and Technology Cooperation Initiative, and promoting scientific and technological innovation to better benefit humanity.

Daren Tang said that WIPO shares the enduring spirit of innovation and creativity as China. WIPO’s mission is not just on the technical aspects of IP, but also in harnessing its power to help inventors and creators bring their ideas to life and to the market. Through efficient IP registries, huge IP databases, global network of 1,600 Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISCs), various capacity building courses, global forum for cutting-edge IP issues, and cooperation platforms such as WIPO GREEN, WIPO is advancing the IP commercialization and harnessing IP to address global challenges.

Themed “Together for Innovation, Development for All - Jointly Building a Scientific and Technological Innovation Community for the Belt and Road”, the Second Belt and Road Conference on Science and Technology Exchange is co-hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the China Association for Science and Technology, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the governments of Sichuan Province and Chongqing Municipality. About 1,500 people, including Chinese and international scientific and technological professionals, business leaders, government officials and representatives of international organizations, attended the event.
