WIPO中国:赋能大湾区创新发展

On August 24, the 11th International Exhibition of Inventions wrapped up in Guangzhou. Hosted by the China Association of Inventions, it drew over 2,000 invention and innovation achievements from around the world, showcasing cutting-edge advancements in tech and innovation. Ms. Liu Hua, Director of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Office in China attended and spoke at the closing ceremony.

Ms. Liu noted two innovation waves: digital age and deep science. China leads in patents, trademarks, and design applications. This year marks 40 years of the China Association of Inventions and WIPO's cooperation. Since 1985, 76 inventors have been honored. WIPO will deepen ties with the CAI, expanding IP services to key regions like the Greater Bay Area.

At the awards ceremony, Ms. Liu presented honors on behalf of WIPO to the recipients of three major awards.

Mr. Zeng Wei from Beijing Yuchi Information Technology Co., Ltd. was awarded the "WIPO Best Invention Award" for his project titled " An Integrated Vehicle-Based Full-Process Solution for On-Site Film and Television Production." This innovation achieves a high level of integration and mobility in film production workflows, representing a cutting-edge advancement in the digital media sector.

Professor Wang Aijie from Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen) received the "WIPO Best Woman Inventor Award" for her " Carbon-Free Deep Denitrification Technology for Algal Blooms Risk Control (SADeN® technology)." This approach offers a low-carbon, high-efficiency solution for sewage treatment, demonstrating significant value in the field of sustainable development.

Mr. Zhan Yihan from Xiamen Foreign Language School won the "WIPO Best Young Inventor Award" for his small, multifunctional, and eco-friendly underwater clamping robot. It demonstrates the younger generation's dedication and environmental consciousness in finding real-world solutions.

During the 11th International Invention Exhibition, Ms. Liu met with Guangzhou's Executive Vice Mayor Mr. Chen Jie and Vice Secretary-General Ms. Meng Hao. Ms. Liu highlighted the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong cluster's status as a top global innovation hub and proposed using WIPO's global services to drive regional breakthroughs. Mr. Chen and Ms. Meng reaffirmed Guangzhou's commitment to collaborating with WIPO, leveraging international resources, and enhancing IP commercialization to boost the Greater Bay Area's global competitiveness.

During her visit, Ms. Liu also paid field visits to the China Strategy Institute for Intellectual Property and the CSG Digital Power Grid Research Institute Co. Ltd. At the China Strategy Institute for Intellectual Property, Ms. Liu and Chairperson Ms. Zhang Chi held discussions on corporate IP strategy and WIPO GREEN cooperation. Ms. Liu introduced WIPO’s global service system and green technology platforms, suggesting that the institute guide enterprises in using WIPO resources to enhance their international IP strategy and global presence. Ms. Zhang expressed their commitment to deepening collaboration with WIPO in green technology and intellectual property capacity building across policy research, industry services, and corporate consulting. At the CSG Digital Power Grid Research Institute Co. Ltd, Ms. Liu and Chairman Mr. Liu Yuquan explored issues related to international IP cooperation. She outlined WIPO’s initiatives in policy coordination, global services, and international cooperation platforms. Mr. Liu affirmed that WIPO’s resources strongly align with the company’s digital and green transformation strategies and will significantly enhance its international competitiveness. Both sides agreed to advance cooperation in IP registration, the WIPO GREEN platform, and talent development.
