Managing International Trademark Registrations – Renew your Registration

You can renew an international trademark registration (“asset”) – valid for 10 years – directly through your eMadrid workbench. Shortly before renewal is due, we will send you an unofficial notice, confirming the date of expiry of your international trademark registration. (Sample Unofficial Expiry Notice [PDF].)

Any international trademark registration (“asset”) that is approaching its expiration date is marked as “Due for renewal – Renew now” in your workbench.

Log in to eMadrid with your WIPO Account
Go to “Manage your trademarks” to access your workbench
Click on “Renew now” in any relevant asset
Follow the prompts to complete your request.

Tip: You can filter your workbench assets by expiration date to get a quick overview of which international trademark registrations have already expired, and which will expire in the next month, six months or year.

When should you renew your international trademark registration?

You can renew your international trademark registration at the earliest six months before the ten-year term of protection expires, or within the six-month grace period following its expiry. Be careful! You will have to pay a 50% surcharge if you renew your international trademark registration during the six-month grace period following expiry.

What happens next?

We will check your request (formalities only) and notify you of any problems, including non-payment of fees. If the renewal request meets all requirements, we will record it in the International Register and send you a Certificate of Renewal. Sample Certificate of Renewal [PDF]

How much does it cost?

Renewal fees include:

basic fee (653 Swiss francs); plus
an individual fee (variable) for each designated Madrid System member (applies only to members listed under declaration (c) concerning Article 8(7)(a) of the Madrid Protocol); and/or
a complementary fee (100 Swiss francs) for each Madrid System member not listed under declaration (c); and
a supplementary fee (100 Swiss francs) for each class of goods and services over three (applies only if a complementary fee is payable, i.e., if some of the designated members do not charge an individual fee).

续展的规费包括：

每个被指定马德里体系成员的单独规费（非固定额）（仅适用于《马德里议定书》第八条第(7)款(a)项的声明(c)中所列的成员）；和/或
未列在声明(c)中的每个马德里体系成员的补充费（100瑞士法郎）；和
附加费（超过三个类的，每增加一类商品或服务，增加100瑞士法郎）（仅在需要缴纳补充费的情况下适用，即在某些被指定成员不收取单独规费的情况下）。

注：如果在商标国际注册届满后的六个月宽展期内进行续展，将须支付50%的额外费。
