Year of Version 2008 Dates Adopted: July 2, 1993 Type of Text IP-related Laws Subject Matter Copyright and Related Rights (Neighboring Rights), Other, Industrial Property Notes The Law on Scientific and Technology was adopted on July 2, 1993 and came into force on October 1, 1993. It was amended for the first time on December 29, 2007, promulgated by Order No. 82 of the President of the People’s Republic of China and came into force on July 1, 2008.

The Law contains provisions relating to State strategies for the promotion of intellectual property rights (Articles 7, 18 & 21) and the protection of intellectual property rights obtained by the enterprises from research and development and obtained in projects covered by the scientific and technological fund established with government funds or by scientific and technological plans, which influence scientific and technological progress (Articles 2, 21, 38, 60 & 65).
