Year of Version 2021 Dates Status as of: August 4, 2021 Amended up to: December 31, 2020 Enacted: October 30, 2007 Type of Text IP-related Laws Subject Matter Patents (Inventions), Trademarks Notes This consolidated version of the Legal Services Act 2007 (Chapter 29, updated up to August 4, 2021) takes into account amendments up to the Services of Lawyers and Lawyer’s Practice (Revocation etc.) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020 (S.I. 2020/1342), which entered into force on different dates. The amendments introduced by the said amending Regulations 2020 to this consolidated version entered into force on December 31, 2020. Part 8, sections 184 and 185; and certain provisions under Schedules 21 and 23 of the consolidated version introduce amendments to the Patents Act 1977, Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 and Trademarks Act 1994, relating to patent attorneys and trade mark attorneys. Schedules 5 (paragraphs 14 to 16 under Part 2), 15 (subparagraphs f) and g) of paragraph 2(4) under Membership) and 22 (paragraph 15(1), subparagraphs j to m) refers to the role of patent attorneys and trade mark attorneys. This consolidated version of the Act 2007 was updated on August 4, 2021, because a listing "Changes to legislation" was added to its final pages, which will be brought into force at a future date and will be incorporated to the content of the said consolidated version.
