Year of Version 2019 Dates Adopted: March 18, 2016 Type of Text IP-related Laws   Subject Matter Patents (Inventions) Subject Matter (secondary) Other Notes Paragraph 2 under Chapter III of the Federal Act of March 18, 2016, on Amendments to the Federal Act of December 15, 2000, on Medicines and Medical Devices ("Therapeutic Products Act, TPA") (hereinafter the "Amendment Act of March 18, 2016") provides that the Federal Council sets the date of entry into force of the said Amendment Act, which is indicated in section "Expiry of the referendum period and entry into force" found on page 31, as follows: - Article 9, paragraph 2, letter f; Articles 64a and 67a under Chaper I of the Amendment Act entered into force on January 1, 2018. - The remaining provisions shall come into force at a later date. On September 21, 2018, the entry into force of the remaining provisions are specified below in the "Order of September 21, 2018, Giving Partial Effect to the Amendment Act of March 18, 2016 of the Therapeutic Products Act (TPA)" : 1. The Amendment Act of March 18, 2016 that amends TPA entered into force on January 1, 2019, subject to the following paragraphs 2 and 3. (Except for Article 9, paragraph 2, letter f; Articles 64a and 67a under Chaper I of the Amendment Act as indicated in the footnote 1 of this Order). 2. Article 26, paragraph 2bis, letter a, and Article 30 of TPA (as referred to in Chapter I of the Amendment Act) entered into force on January 1, 2020. 3. Articles 33, 55, 56, 82, point 1, 86, paragraph 1, letter h of TPA; Article 49, paragraphs 1 and 3 of the Act of October 8, 2004 on Transplantation (as referred to in Chapter II. 3. in the Annex of the Amendment Act of March 18, 2016) and Amendments to the Federal Act of March 18, 1994, on Health Insurance (as referred to in Chapter II. 4. in the Annex of the Amendment Act of March 18, 2016) shall come into force at a later date.
