- Law No. 214 of March 31, 1998, on Peasant or Farm Households;
- Law No. 373 of January 8, 2003, on Investments;
- Law No. 124 of January 31, 2006 on Private Entrepreneurship;
- Law No. 112-IV of December 25, 2008, on Competition;
- Law No. 377-IV of January 6, 2011, on State Control and Supervision in the Republic of Kazakhstan; and
- Law No. 534-IV of January 9, 2012, on State Support for Industrial Innovation Activities.

The Code entered into force on January 1, 2016, except for some provisions (see Section 7, Chapter 31, Article 324 of this consolidated version for further details).

This consolidated version of the Code incorporates amendments up to Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 499-V of April 9, 2016, which came into force on May 2, 2016 (see Section 3, Chapter 11, Articles 116 & 124-4 of the consolidated version for the amendments).

The consolidated Code consists of 7 sections, 31 chapters and 324 articles, relating to entrepreneurship, types of entrepreneurship, including individual entrepreneurs and different forms of business entities, interaction between these types of entrepreneurship and the State, State regulation and support for innovation activities and investment activities of SMEs and business entities, competition and monopolistic activities, State participation in entrepreneurship, State control and supervision of business entities, and responsibility of state bodies and officials for violation of legislation on issues of entrepreneurship.

The consolidated Code contains, inter alia, the following provisions on intellectual property, which relate to:
(i) State control over the commercial activities of the enterprises, involving the use of copyright and related rights, industrial property, selection achievements, and topographies of integrated circuits (Section 3, Chapter 13, Article 138(64));
(ii) acts of unfair competition closely related to intellectual property (Section 4, Chapter 15, Article 169(2)(2); and Chapter 16, Articles 177-191); and
(iii) support for entrepreneurs, private enterprises and different types business entities by providing access to innovation activities, promoting technology transfer and commercialization, innovation and technology development, and encouraging the use of advanced manufacturing technologies (see Section 2, Chapter 5, Article 74(4)(5), Chapter 8, Article 93(1)(4), Article 96(2)(6), Article 100(2)(11); Section 4, Chapter 15, Article 170(4)(1); and Section 5, Chapter 22, Articles 232, Chapter 23, Article 239(1)(3), Article 241(2)(5), and Chapter 24, Articles 242-270).
