Year of Version 2014 Dates Promulgated: December 31, 1961 Type of Text Main IP Laws   Subject Matter Patents (Inventions), Utility Models Subject Matter (secondary) Enforcement of IP and Related Laws, IP Regulatory Body, Trademarks, Undisclosed Information (Trade Secrets), Industrial Designs Notes This version of the Utility Model Act 1961 incorporates all the amendments from 1963 up to 2014, which entered into force on January 1, 2015 (See Addenda for the list of amended provisions and dates of entry into force thereof).

The amended provisions made by Act No. 12752 of June 11, 2014 include the following: i) Article 8-3 grants filing of utility model registration with foreign languages other than Korean; ii) Article 35-1 extends the submission term for Korean translated version of application in case of international application and; iii) Article 35-6 adopts correction period for errors found in the Korean translated version of application in case of international application.
