Year of Version 2013 Dates Amended up to: July 4, 2013 Adopted: October 23, 2008 Type of Text Main IP Laws Subject Matter Patents (Inventions), Industrial Designs, Enforcement of IP and Related Laws, IP Regulatory Body Notes The Law of Turkmenistan No. 220-III of October 23, 2008, on Inventions and Industrial Designs No. 220-III of October 23, 2008, is divided into 9 chapters: general provisions (Chapter I); legal protection of patents and industrial designs (Chapter II); patent holders and patentees (Chapter III); exclusive rights to inventions and industrial designs (Chapter IV); process for obtaining patent rights (Chapter V); transfer of the patent rights (Chapter VI); termination and restoration of patent rights (Chapter VII); protection of patents, patent holders and applicants (Chapter VIII); and final provisions (Chapter IX).

This consolidated version of this Law incorporates all the amendments up to the Law of Turkmenistan No. 14-IV of June 22, 2013, on Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Turkmenistan (the Amendment Law'), which entered into force on July 4, 2013.
Changes to the Law made by the 'Amendment Law' are the following:
In Articles 1(11) & 2(1), the words “Patent Department of the Ministry of Economy and Development of Turkmenistan” are replaced with the words “the State Service for Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Economy and Development of Turkmenistan” (“Turkmenpatent”).
