Year of Version 2012 Dates Entry into force: March 26, 1943 Adopted: January 1, 1943 Type of Text IP-related Laws Subject Matter Patents (Inventions), Utility Models, Industrial Designs, Trademarks, Geographical Indications, Trade Names, Copyright and Related Rights (Neighboring Rights), Enforcement of IP and Related Laws, IP Regulatory Body, Industrial Property Notes This Code was published in the Official Journal of the Federation (DOF) on February 24, 1943. It was last amended and republished in DOF on April 9, 2012.

The Code shall apply supplementary to the Industrial Property Law and the Federal Copyright Law. According to Article 187 of the Industrial Property Law and Article 213 of the Federal Copyright Law, any civil action brought in connection with copyright and neighboring rights or industrial property rights shall be prepared, conducted and ruled upon in accordance with the provisions of the Law and the Regulations under it, with the Federal Code of Civil Procedure being applicable subsidiarily before Federal courts.
