To support professionals who advise inventors to obtain patents in the Arab region, WIPO has organized a Virtual Regional Patent Drafting Course for Arab Countries. The Course has been organized with the support of the Japan IP Global Fund in Trust. The course will take place from January 27 to 30, 2025. Registration is open until January 25, 2025.
What does the Course include?
The training program, which will be held in Arabic with key interventions in English, is composed of 2 parts:
- Virtual Workshop – 4 days of tutor-led webinars on the fundamentals of drafting claims and specification through expert-facilitated discussions and exercises.
- Practical Exercise – participants work individually on a practical exercise sent by e-mail and will have the opportunity to receive individual feedback.
Those who fully complete the training will receive a certificate.
Who should apply?
This training program is ideal for those with professional or commercial interest in patents, and those who are looking to enhance their patent drafting skills across different technical fields. In particular, the following professionals are encouraged to apply:
- staff of technology transfer offices at universities, public research centers or WIPO Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISCs);
- individuals regularly involved in supporting inventors obtain patents;
- patent professionals like those working in law firms; and
- innovators, researchers, and members of the public wishing to enhance their patent drafting skills.
Qualified applicants must have a science/technology background, or at least one year of professional or research experience in patent drafting or patent prosecution.
