Madrid Monitor: Checking the Status of Protection of your International Registration Made Easier

July 5, 2023

Starting July 5, 2023, “Designation Status” – enabling you to quickly and easily check the status of protection of your international trademark registration(s) in each designated Madrid System Member – will be a permanent feature of Madrid Monitor.

What is Madrid Monitor? Just one tool in our suite of online services available under eMadrid, Madrid Monitor helps you to keep up-to-date with your international registrations, as well as those of your competitors!

How to check designation status

  1. Go to eMadrid and select “Monitor Your Registration”
  2. Enter any search term or international registration number
  3. Click on any result to open details of that international registration, and
  4. Refer to the new tab ‘Designation Status’.
  5. Click on any record to access a full description of the status, including the full history of all transactions.

Tip! When the status of protection for a given contracting party is “Protection Granted”, you can directly download an unofficial certificate of protection in PDF format. The certificate will contain the basic information of the mark, along with a summary of the status and the goods and service protected. Remember: You can also ask us for certified documents form the International Register!
