Application to the Rome Act (1928) through the United Kingdom: August 6, 1931; Entry into force: October 1, 1931. Declaration of continued application by Ceylon after the accession of the State to independence: July 20, 1959. The Act is applicable as of the accession of the country to independence: February 4, 1948.

Declarations, reservations etc.

Paris Act (1971): Pursuant to Article I of the Appendix of the Paris Act, a notification was deposited on September 27, 2005, in which this State availed itself of the faculties provided for in Articles II and III of the said Appendix. The relevant declaration was effective until October 10, 2014. (see Berne Notification No. 248)

Ratification of the Rome Act (1928) subject to the following reservation "...the Government of Ceylon... reserves for itself the right to enact local legislation for the translation of educational, scientific and technical books into the national language." (see Le Droit d'auteur 1959, No.12, p.205)
