Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works
Accession of Canada to the Stockholm Act (with the exception of Articles 1 to 21 and of the Protocol Regarding Developing Countries)
The Director of the United International Bureaux for the Protection of Intellectual Property (BIRPI) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and, in accordance with the provisions of the Stockholm Act of the above Convention, has the honor to notify him that the Government of Canada deposited on March 26, 1970, its instrument of accession dated March 16, 1970, to the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works of September 9, 1886, as revised at Stockholm on July 14, 1967, with the declaration provided for in Article 28(1)(b)(i) of the said Act to the effect that the accession shall not apply to Articles 1 to 21 and to the Protocol Regarding Developing Countries.
Pursuant to the provisions of Article 28(2)(c) of the Stockholm Act of the Said Convention, Articles 22 to 38 will enter into force, with respect to Canada, three months after the date of this notification, that is, on July 7, 1970.
A separate notification will be made on the entry into force of the other provisions of the Stockholm Act of the said Convention, when the required number of ratifications or accessions is reached.
