Practical Workshops on IP and TK, TCEs and GRs

WIPO’s Traditional Knowledge Division recently organized national and regional practical workshops in Malawi, Samoa and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.
WIPO regularly receives requests to organize awareness raising, capacity building and training activities related to intellectual property (IP) and traditional knowledge (TK), traditional cultural expressions (TCEs) and genetic resources (GRs).
Our multi-stakeholder practical workshops provide a unique opportunity for government officials, representatives of indigenous peoples and local communities and other stakeholders to exchange ideas and experiences, examine current practices, raise awareness, and explore practical and legal means to protect TK and TCEs and address the IP aspects of access to and benefit-sharing in GRs.
