The Bulgarian Ministry of Culture has requested on several occasions the organization of a capacity-building activity for music performers. The workshop, intended for music performers, will build on the successful implementation of similar workshops in many developing countries and countries in transition and will seek to increase the practical knowledge of artists and performers on how they can maximize their income streams on the basis of their copyright and related rights. Due to other commitments WIPO was unable to respond positively to this request in the past.
In his e-mail of January 25, 2013 (copy attached), Mr. Georgi Damyanov, Director, Copyright Department, Ministry of Culture of Bulgaria, confirmed the readiness of the Bulgarian side to organize together with WIPO a National Workshop on Management of Music Performers rights, in Sofia, on March 12 and 13, 2013. |
