Reference is made to the 2019 workplan of the New York Office foreseeing support to Gender related initiatives in partnership with other UN agencies and member states in
New York.
On the margin of the sixty-third session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), the Office discussed with ITU the organization of a side event on March 20, 2019 on Gender and Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) – as also brought to your kind attention in previous email exchanges.
The purpose of this event is to promote awareness and understanding on the program of work by a number of UN agencies on gender equality in STI fields. The organization of this event is in support of the work of the Gender and STI Group established under
the TFM Inter Agency Task Team on STI. It is recalled that this Group is co-led by WIPO-ITU and UNESCO.
This event will provide an opportunity to show case WIPO’s work on gender equality and on promoting the participation of women and girls in innovation and creativity. |
