The Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee, the Jamaican Jerk or Jamaican Rum are some of the well-known, internationally reputed Jamaican brands that are protected as distinctive signs associated with the products’ premium quality. The well-established regulatory and institutional framework in support of the brands and Jamaica being a developing country are the reasons for selecting Jamaica as a best practice against which the Zanzibar participants may benchmark their branding initiative. This will go a long way in raising their level of understanding prior to selecting the most appropriate IP tool and institutional and regulatory framework to support the clove branding strategy. |
