We propose to organize a Seminar on Intellectual Property and Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge and Traditional Cultural Expressions. The specific focus of the seminar would be regional, national and local experiences. The seminar aims at:
- maintaining focus on the importance of traditional knowledge, traditional cultural expressions and genetic resources issues for IP policy makers;
- providing Member States and observers an opportunity to share regional, national and local practices, experiences and case studies, and to exchange views, informally, on some of the key substantive issues discussed by the IGC; and
- providing an opportunity for Member States to meet among themselves informally and in whichever configurations they may wish, so as to remain engaged with the issues and with each other. Please find attached the approved memorandum for this event. |
