The main purpose of the mission would be to discuss:
-The adherence of Algeria to the Beijing Treaty and the Marrakech VIP Treaty. This engagement is particularly important in light of the stalled process of ratification of the Beijing Treaty as a result of the reported discrepancies of the Arab text with the French and English texts;
-Bilateral cooperation on copyright issues to advance the work program of WIPO in this filed, particularly that of the SCCR;
-Opportunities for partnership to support future CCIS initiatives/activities for the development of copyright regimes in the Arab region and one of the largest in Africa may have a pivotal role in this respect. |
