Exhibition of WIPO’s support to African countries under FIT Japan including the branding project for “Taita Basket” at a side event to TICAD VI |

Japan Patent Office (JPO) has secured a stand (6 m2) for an exhibition of WIPO’s support to African countries under FIT Japan. It is proposed to dispatch Mr. Tsuda for the organization of the exhibition. He has been working with KIPI (Kenya Industrial Property Institute) and other partners on a branding project for sisal baskets in Kenya (mission report is attached). It is proposed to showcase some (10 to 20) baskets with a poster of the story of the project as support by WIPO to Kenya. A monitor and a DVD player will be available for a fee to show some films made by WIPO and also those of JPO. The exhibition materials are now being prepared in cooperation with the Communication Division. Two local staff members from Taita Taveta County (the local government official in charge of the project and the chairperson of the association) who will select and bring baskets to Nairobi and will explain the project to visitors, are necessary for the exhibition. |
