WIPO Creative heritage Project Phase II |

The Jamaica Intellectual Property Office (JIPO) has requested WIPO’s assistance in providing the Rastafari and Maroon communities in Jamaica with follow-up training in the area of IP management in the context of cultural heritage documentation, in particular, film editing.
WIPO has previously organized, in conjunction with JIPO, two events in Jamaica related to the Creative Heritage Project: (i) the Rastafari Global Summit and Expo, August 2010; and
(ii) a Training Program on Cultural Documentation and IP Management for Indigenous and Local Communities, December 2011. The requested training would hence be a continuation or second phase of WIPO’s Creative Heritage Project and WIPO’s collaboration with the communities, with JIPO’s collaboration.
The first part of the training was held in December 2012.
