Over the years WIPO has developed substantive expertise in measuring the creative economy. Currently new approaches are being tested to enable a more comprehensive data collection and analysis of the creative industries. The purpose of this would be to support data-driven policy recommendations.
Many countries are showing growing interest towards measurement of the creative economy, among those are countries in Central Asia and Europe, which have demonstrated serious attitude to the subject and requested on numerous occasions readiness to engage in joint projects with WIPO.
