During the official visit of Mr. Abdel Ghaffar to Lebanon, in April 28, 2011, the Director General of the Ministy of Culture of Lebanon, Mr. Omar Halablab, expressed a keen interest in raising awareness in the areas of traditional knowledge (TK) and traditional cultural expressions (TCEs) through holding a National Seminar on Traditional Knowledge and Cultural Heritage in Beirut. Lebanon further expressed this interest at the International Technical Symposium on Intellectual Property and Sustainable Development: Documentation and Registration of Traditional Knowledge and Traditional Cultural Expressions in Muscat, Oman, in June 2011. In this respect, Lebanon asked WIPO to participate in and co-organize this National Seminar and emails have been exchanged between WIPO and the Ministry of Culture of Lebanon suggesting specific dates for the Seminar in November 2011.
