International Conference on Building Respect for Intellectual Property - Stimulating Innovation and Creativity |

The objective of the Conference is to provide a high-level forum for dialogue on respect for IP among international policy makers and strategy developers. The Conference will aim to: share experiences in the realization of economic growth, scientific advancement and cultural flourishing through the development of a balanced and effective IP system; reaffirm shared commitment to build respect for IP, by exchanging information on enhancing public awareness about the importance of respecting IP; and reinforce WIPO’s leadership role in the multilateral discussions about respect for IP.
Additionally, the Conference will implement the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between WIPO and SMPG, the purpose of which is inter alia to build respect for IP (Article 1). The MoU also provides that WIPO “will [...] periodically organiz[e] activities including the Shanghai International IP Forum IP related seminars” (Article 2(6) and calls for strengthened cooperation in the field of IP law enforcement (Article 2(10)). |
