The Government of Yemen has requested the technical assistance of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) concerning the protection of traditional handicrafts using intellectual property (IP). In particular, Yemen would like to protect, document and preserve its traditional handicrafts, such as ceramics and porcelain, which possess significant historical, cultural and economic value, as part of the national heritage of the country.
