The objective of the assignment is to assist the Government of Liberia to draft modern, development oriented intellectual property laws which take into account the need for Liberia to:
(a) integrate into the globalized trading system;
(b) consider various international IP treaties to which Liberia is a party or likely to become a party;
(c) consider the flexibilities available in the international intellectual property legal framework such the TRIPS Agreement, (which the country will be required to comply with when it joins the WTO once the accession process is completed) and Exceptions and Limitations to Copyright;
