WIPO Re:Search: Collaborative Innovation for Health |
Description: |
Organization of a Global Challenges Seminar to be held in the afternoon of September 27, 2018 in Room NB 0.107 This Seminar will present two examples of how the WIPO Re:Search public private partnership can contribute to accelerating R&D for neglected tropical diseases, tuberculosis and malaria: (i) the collaboration between Merck & Co. (MSD outside the USA and Canada) and the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research (WEHI) in Australia on developing alternative antimalarials to combat the growing threat of Artemisinin-resistant malaria; and (ii) capacity-building activities whereby WIPO Re:Search (supported by Funds-in-Trust provided by the Government of Australia) places interested scientists from developing and least developed countries (LDCs) in advanced research institutes in Australia sabbaticals ranging from three to 12 months. GCD will present the WIPO Re:Search Resource Platform at the conclusion of the event. |
