Title: WIPO, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), Singapore Fintech Association (SFA) Fintech & Arbitration Seminar 2019, February 28 and Meeting Ministry of Law (MinLaw) - Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) Feb. 27.
Description: Agenda
Further to earlier contacts with CIArb and SFA, and in light of the recent developments and prominent position of Singapore in the area of fintech, the WIPO Arbitration Mediation Center (Center) is organizing a Seminar on fintech and arbitration in Singapore. A copy of the program is attached.
The meeting with MinLaw and IPOS will allow us to discuss the renewal of the Center’s MoU and our existing collaboration in the provision of WIPO mediation and expert determination options for parties to trademark and patent proceedings before IPOS. We are exploring expanding the existing areas of collaboration in order to assist IPOS with disputes from their users in all areas of intellectual property (IP), including copyright and related rights.
Participants:
The Seminar is aimed at the members of SFA and CIArb including professionals from law firms, fintech companies, fintech start-ups and financial institutions. The Center is reaching out to its contacts in the region and relying on the co-organizers and supporting organization to attract industry stakeholders. Based on previous events, we anticipate between 70-90 participants.
WIPO Interest:
Presentations on WIPO alternative dispute resolution (ADR) options will provide an excellent opportunity for the Center to establish and reinforce contact with potential users of WIPO ADR services in the fintech area in an attempt to impact their dispute resolution policies, with a view to the Center’s availability in the region as an international provider of ADR.
