Mr. Uwemedimo was invited by a major publisher in Portugal, Almedina, to speak at its first Congress on Intellectual Property, taking place on September 26, 2014 in Lisbon, Portugal. The event will consider the latest developments in intellectual property at both the national and international levels. A program is not yet available.
Considering that the event will be held in Portuguese, it is proposed that Mr. Rafael Ferraz Vazquez, ICS, from the Copyright Law Division (CLD), and a native speaker of Portuguese, represent WIPO and undertake this mission.
The subjects of the talk would include the Beijing and Marrakesh Treaties as well as other recent initiatives such as the studies on video games and internet intermediary liability.
Please find enclosed a draft cost estimate for this mission. The travel and hotel costs would be covered by the event organizers. CLD has adequate funds available in its budget in Program 3, Unit 0007, Activity Code P 1057.
