Title: Back-to-back Missions: Participation in the III Congress of the Mexican Technology Transfer Offices Network’s (Red OTT), Querétaro, Mexico and WIPO Workshop on Patent Drafting and the Use of the Patent System, Santiago de Chile, Chile
Description: This is a request for a back-to-back mission to Querétaro, Mexico, on November 26 and 27, 2014 and to Santiago de Chile, Chile, on December 1 to 5, 2014. The first activity is a staff mission, where I am going to participate in the III Congress of the Mexican Technology Transfer Offices Network’s (Red OTT) that will take place in Querétaro (invitation letter attached). The other two activities in Santiago de Chile are: a Workshop on Patent Drafting, from December 1 to 4, 2014, (please see attached the invitation letter and the Director General’s positive reply to the National Institute of Industrial Property of Chile (INAPI)) and a University Initiative coordination meeting taking place during the week of the Workshop.
The TTO Congress is an important event organized by the Mexican Government in order to stimulate innovation and to reunite in one place all the actors of the Mexican innovation ecosystem. As requested by the Congress organizers, I am going to present an intensive 2-day Workshop on Patent Drafting. This Workshop will be a “parallel event” taking place during the main TTO Network Congress that congregates all the Mexican TTO’s – more than 80 – representing public research centers, public and private universities, the national incubator’s network, investors and entrepreneurs.
The aim of the Patent Drafting Workshop is to provide strategic knowledge of the patent system and practical training on the drafting of patent applications and particularly on the different strategies of designing claims.
During the short version, I will present the main topics of the complete version of the Workshop Program (i.e. 5-day program) and some simple claim drafting exercises.
In Chile, the complete Workshop program will take place and as usual, it would be followed by a two-month distance learning course during which the participants would practice drafting patent claims oriented by the Tutors. Certificates would be awarded to those having completed bot
