Title: Sub-Regional Meeting of Experts on Patents of Central American Countries and the Dominican Republic
Description: The main purpose of this Sub-Regional Meeting is to present the updated version of the Manual on the processing patent applications, and the annexes corresponding to:
- the harmonized criteria of the PCT processing requests;
- the criteria for the establishment of novelty and the inventive activity in the area of polymorphs and salts, the main aspects to consider in the examination of the “Complex Applications”;
- the document on criteria for the establishment of the novelty and inventive activity in the area of biotechnology; and
- on particular aspects on the management and examination of “utility models”.
Also, the Meeting will allow holding various round tables to provide information and guidance on examination, mainly to heads of patents, by analyzing issues and cases that are causing difficulty in the Offices in connection with the examination and evaluation of applications.
This Meeting is of particular importance as it closes a stage of collaboration and allows identifying possible future actions for continuing supporting the Offices on capacity building for patent examination. Those actions would be adjusted to the particular requirements of the region and would contribute in the process
of the sub regional harmonization.
