||It should be mentioned here that the finalization of the draft report was affected by the unexpected change of leadership at DIP in October last year. The appointment of the new Director General (i.e. Mr. Thosapone Dansuputra) took some time after Mrs. Nuntawan Sakuntanaga's departure in October 2016. This has caused the delay in the finalization of the report as the Director General of DIP plays a pivotal role in championing the project at the national level. Additionally, the current Director General of DIP, Mr. Thosapone, has different views and visions from his predecessor as to the transformation of DIP. Consequently, some of the substantive parts of the report have to be changed and tweaked in light of the views and aspirations of the new Director General for DIP. A follow-up mission is needed to engage in discussions with senior management and staff of DIP, particularly the new Director General, in order to ensure that they fully appreciate the implications of each of the recommendations in the report. This would, in turn, facilitate their better understanding of the different options and recommendations for transforming DIP, and eventual implementation of the same.
