Reference is made to the implementation of the above mentioned Project in Rwanda.
Significant progress has been made in the implementation of the above mentioned Project since the formal launch of the Project on September 28 and 29, 2015.
In particular, a number of key deliverables as envisaged in the Project document and necessary for the successful attainment of all the Project outputs have been completed.
These deliverables include the institutionalization of the National Expert Group under the chairmanship of the National Industrial Research Institute, the recruitment of an international and national consultant, the identification of two development need areas
(solar water distillation and fish breeding), and the preparation of two patent search requests for the identification of relevant technologies to address the identified development need areas.
Patent search reports have also been received from the Austria Patent Office which identified relevant technologies for solar water distillation and fish breeding and which will aid the subsequent identification of the most appropriate technologies for the two priority need areas.
In addition, during the course of the Project implementation, technological capacity building has been provided focusing on the use of technical and patent information. A recently completed technological capacity building mission to Kuala Lumpur also facilitated learning from the technological development experiences of other countries.
The international expert is currently in the process of preparing a Technology Landscape Report and a Business Plan for each of the two identified need areas. These documents will include an analysis of patent search results, identify relevant technologies and propose ways in which to implement the selected technologies and to convert them into a viable business in the future.
In this context, and as a key step in the finalization of the Project, it is proposed to convene a |
