The objective of the proposed event would be:
(i) to provide a training to Senegalese experts as well as to official representatives and NGOs of other OAPI members on the development and protection of quality products linked to origin, on the national, regional and international level, including on the recent developments of the Lisbon System and other WIPO services relating to GIs and trademarks, such as the Madrid System;
(ii) to exchange experiences on those issues with national official and producers of African countries which managed to protect successfully GIs;
(iii) to make decision makers aware of the importance of the protection and promotion of quality products linked to origin to foster the economy of developing and least developed countries;
(iv) to updated the National GI Action Plan for Senegal, including the identification of a pilot product for its recognition at the national level and registration by OAPI. |
