It’s a Wrap! WIPO and IPOS Conclude the Mentorship for Intangible Asset Transformation (MINT) Program

October 12, 2023

The MINT program, a partner initiative by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS), to promote the benefits of strategic management of Intellectual Property (IP) assets among businesses, has recently concluded its journey.

Launched in April 2023, the program brought together 15 Singaporean enterprises with IP and business experts to explore how to better utilize IP as part of their business strategies through personalized, one-on-one mentorship, expert advice, and training.

As we bid farewell to this program, it's essential to reflect on its highlights:

At the heart of the program, was the provision of individualized mentoring by IP experts. The selected Singaporean SMEs had the unique opportunity to work closely with these experts to navigate the intricacies of IP, refining their IP strategies, ultimately to bolster their growth and competitiveness on the global stage.

The positive feedback received from the participants is confirming that programs offering mentoring with IP experts, as well as practical training, networking, access to international events, and more are helping to remove the complexity from IP for entrepreneurs.

Halfway through the program, the participating company Flexxon, won the 2023 WIPO Global Awards for SMEs, an accomplishment highlighting the tangible benefits of successful IP Management initiatives and the potential it unlocks for businesses.

At the “Special WIPO-IPOS Showcase: MINT and IAP” held during the IP Week Celebratory Dinner (2023 IP Week in Singapore), the enterprises received certificates of successful completion of the MINT program, presented by Mr. Andrew Stains, Assistance Director General at WIPO and Rena Lee, Chief Executive at IPOS. The event was an opportune moment to unveil a video showcasing IPOS’ collaboration with WIPO in supporting the innovation journeys of the Singaporean enterprises, through MINT.

As we say our goodbyes, we look forward to the continued success and growth of the participating companies and we are excited to find out where they stand six months from now, armed with more knowledge on IP!
