Patent Landscape Report on Animal Genetic Resources
This report represents the first large-scale quantitative analysis related to patenting activity involving livestock animals. It includes biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, immunology and gene therapy, stem cells and transgenic animals and as such, its main focus is on addressing the challenges involved in identifying patent activity for animal genetic resources in general and activity relating to animal genetic resources for food and agriculture in particular. Additionally, the report explores the use of traditional knowledge (TK) and the mention of the source of origin of genetic resources in patent documents.

Patent Landscape Report on E-Waste Recycling Technologies
The report covers in detail patent applications and granted patents within the space of e-waste processing, and the recycling and recovery of materials from consumer products at the end of their useful life. Additionally, the report uses reference information, such as news and other business data sources to extend the information into real-world applicability, and also to verify the interest and commercial activity of entities mentioned within the study.

Patent Landscape Report on Vaccines for Selected Infectious Diseases
The scope of this report is to detect patterns of patenting activity and innovation in the area of vaccine research and manufacturing in order to facilitate the sourcing of vaccine technologies that could potentially be used in developing countries. Part I provides an overview of patenting activity in the area of vaccines by means of a statistical analysis. Part II focuses on the patenting related to vaccines for: streptococcus pneumonia conjugate vaccines; typhoid conjugate vaccines; and influenza vaccines. Each part of the report also includes a special focus on the patenting activity in Brazil, China and India.

Patent Landscape Report on Solar Cooling
This patent landscape report provides a general overview of existing solar cooling technologies and potential fields of application. It includes applications that go beyond air-conditioning, such as the cooling of water; refrigeration of sensitive goods, such as medicines; or desalination of seawater.
Patent Landscape Report on Membrane Filtration and UV Water Treatment
Various water treatment methods are required and in use to make water safe and clean for drinking and irrigation purposes. The present landscape report focuses on a selection of water treatment technologies, namely UV disinfection and micro-, ultra- and nanofiltration. The report identifies patents that claim inventions related to these water treatment technologies. It also looks at patents on inventions that form part of desalination (pre- or post- desalination) treatment in particular.
Patent Landscape Report on Atazanavir
This patent landscape report is dedicated to Atazanavir – an antiretroviral drug used to treat HIV infection and AIDS. A major objective of this report is to examine the evolution of the patent environment protecting Atazanavir from the first filing of this compound to the present filings. The second objective is to provide insight into best practice for probing the patent literature in the pharmaceutical area. Because combination therapies involving more than one drug are such an integral part of pharmaceutical development, and because that is especially true for AIDS therapies, a separate chapter of the report focuses on combinations.

Patent Landscape Report on Desalination Technologies and the Use of Alternative Energies for Desalination
This report identified 4551 patent families (including utility models) that claim inventions related to desalination of water, and 921 families describing the combination of desalination technologies with the use of renewable energies. Based on this patent collection, various patterns of patenting activity and innovation in the area of desalination are presented, with a separate focus on the use of renewable energies for desalination. A comprehensive explanation of the search methodology and history (including all search queries), and of the evaluation of the search results is included and illustrates how patent information can be retrieved and exploited in the area of desalination.
Patent Landscape Report on Solar Cooking
This patent landscape report seeks to provide a comprehensive overview of available technologies that exclusively use solar energy as the primary energy source for cooking or pasteurizing food. At the same time it identifies systems that are simple and easy to use in environments of rural communities; preferably systems that could be used in individual households. The report provides a description of the patent search methodology and evaluation of the results, showcasing the tools for accessing and using patent information. It clusters the available technologies in four categories based on the main heating methods used.

This report is dedicated to Ritonavir – an antiretroviral drug used to treat HIV infection and AIDS. A major goal of the report is to highlight the technology timeline for Ritonavir from the first filing of this compound to the present filings. It identifies a number of innovation tracks derived from the first Ritonavir patent document. The report also includes an analysis of statistical trends. A comprehensive explanation of the search methodology and history (including all search queries), and of the evaluation of the search results is included and illustrates how patent information can be retrieved and exploited in the area of pharmaceuticals.
WIPO Patent Drafting Manual
This Manual has been prepared in response to repeated demands from developing country Member States for capacity building in patent drafting due to the existing limited professional capacity in this area which is an obstacle to the utilization of the intellectual property system by their nationals. The target audience for this Manual is primarily but not exclusively in developing countries and consists of scientists, researchers, technically trained persons and attorneys with a technical background who wish to draft patent applications. The Manual provides the necessary guidelines and an understanding of the skills needed for drafting a patent application, filing it and working with patent authorities to have it issued as a patent. The primary aim of this Manual is to assist all inventors in protecting their intellectual property through carefully crafted patent applications.
