Arrangement de Lisbonne concernant la protection des appellations d'origine et leur enregistrement international

L'Arrangement de Lisbonne assure la protection des appellations d'origine, c'est-à-dire de la “dénomination géographique d'un pays, d'une région ou d'une localité servant à désigner un produit qui en est originaire et dont la qualité ou les caractères sont dus exclusivement ou essentiellement au milieu géographique, comprenant les facteurs naturels et les facteurs humains” (article 2).

L'Acte de Genève permet l'enregistrement international des indications géographiques, outre les appellations d'origine, ainsi que l'adhésion à l'Arrangement de Lisbonne de certaines organisations intergouvernementales.

Le système de Lisbonne

Le système de Lisbonne facilite la protection internationale des appellations d'origine au moyen d'une procédure unique d'enregistrement. Il rend superflu le dépôt de plusieurs enregistrements auprès de différents offices et couvre plus de deux douzaines de pays en Afrique, en Asie, en Europe et en Amérique latine.
