PATENTSCOPE NEWS

PCT Monitoring feature

A PCT Monitoring feature – available in WIPO’s global patent database, PATENTSCOPE, provides an easy method of monitoring published PCT applications for important changes such as republications, updates to bibliographic data, national phase entry data, and the availability of new documents without the need to perform repeated manual searches. Users are able to track up to 20 applications simultaneously by activating the “Start Watching” function from the PCT Bibliographic Data tab of any PCT application published after April 2022.

More information can be found in the PATENTSCOPE User’s Guide at:

Searchable Standard Essential Patent (SEP) declarations

PATENTSCOPE now also includes a dedicated field to indicate where SEP declarations were made for a patent.

A Standard Essential Patent (SEP) is a patent that protects an invention essential to the implementation of a particular technology standard. Such standards are critical for ensuring the safety, interoperability and compatibility of different products and services made available by various companies.

Patents that have been declared as essential to technological standards adopted at three Standard Developing Organizations are now marked as such and searchable in PATENTSCOPE in the new tab “Declared SEP”.
