PCT Information Update

AZ  Azerbaijan (number of copies required; fees)

The Intellectual Property Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan as receiving Office has notified the International Bureau (IB) that it now requires one copy of the international application on paper, instead of three.

The amounts of the following fees, payable to the Office as receiving Office, have changed:

BG  Bulgaria (telephone number; e-mail address; fees)

The telephone number and e‑mail address of the Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria have changed, as follows:

The Office, in its capacity as receiving Office, has notified the IB that there is no longer a fee payable for a priority document, and that there is no fee payable for a request for restoration of the right of priority.

Further to the information published in PCT Newsletter No. 05/2019, the National Center of Intellectual Property (Belarus) has notified the IB that the correct amounts of the national fees, applicable with effect from 1 January 2019, are as follows:

For patent:

CH  Switzerland (means of telecommunication)

The Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property has notified the IB that, with effect from 1 January 2020, it will discontinue the use of its facsimile machine and will no longer accept the filing of documents by fax.  It is recalled that the Office accepts electronic filing via ePCT‑Filing.

HU  Hungary (fees)

As from 1 December 2019, there will be a change in the equivalent amounts of the international filing fee and the fee per sheet over 30, payable in HUF to the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office (HIPO) as receiving Office, as well as a change in the equivalent amount in HUF of the applicable fee reductions listed in item 4 of the Schedule of Fees, as indicated in Fee Table I(a).

IN  India (fees)

The transmittal fee is no longer payable to the Indian Patent Office where the international application has been filed with the Office as receiving Office using ePCT‑Filing.

Furthermore, the fee for priority document is no longer payable where the Office, as a DAS depositing Office, has made a certified copy of the priority document available through DAS.

KE  Kenya (telephone numbers; means of telecommunication)

There has been a change in the telephone numbers to be used for the Kenya Industrial Property Institute, which are now as follows:

The Office has discontinued the use of its facsimile machine. As a result, the Office no longer accepts the filing of documents by fax, and now accepts the submission of documents by e‑mail.

MX  Mexico (telephone numbers)

There has been a change in the telephone numbers to be used for the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property, which are now as follows:

ZA  South Africa (fees)

As from 1 December 2019, there will be a change in the equivalent amounts of the international filing fee and the fee per sheet over 30, payable in ZAR to the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) (South Africa) as receiving Office, as well as a change in the equivalent amount in ZAR of the applicable fee reductions listed in item 4 of the Schedule of Fees, as indicated in Fee Table I(a).

Search fee (European Patent Office, Korean Intellectual Property Office, National Institute of Industrial Property (Brazil), Nordic Patent Institute, Swedish Patent and Registration Office, United States Patent and Trademark Office)

The Korean Intellectual Property Office has notified the IB that, with effect from 10 October 2019, the search fee payable to it as International Searching Authority is reduced by 75% where the applicant or, if there are two or more applicants, each applicant is a national of, and has a residence or business domicile in, one of the following States:  Colombia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Mongolia, Peru, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Viet Nam. 

As from 1 December 2019, there will be changes in the equivalent amounts in the currencies specified below for international searches carried out by the following Offices:
