PCT Fellowship Program for Graduate Students: Call for Applications

WIPO's PCT Information Systems Division organizes a Fellowship Program for computer science specialists with the aim of providing on-the-job experience at an international organization. WIPO is now accepting applications for the 2019 edition of the Program.

What we offer

  • We will provide training and guidance to participants throughout the period of their fellowship.
  • Fellowships vary in length but typically last for six months to two years.
  • Fellows salaries start at 5,000 Swiss francs per month, depending on experience.
  • WIPO may consider paying some travel costs in certain circumstances.

Fellowship positions

There are two types of Fellowship positions:

Software Engineering Fellows

Software Engineering Fellows will liaise with technical teams to cooperate on the design and implementation of software components and infrastructure layout, to increase the agility and flexibility of systems and applications supporting the PCT organisation.

Candidates should be currently pursuing or be a recent graduate of an advanced degree program (Master’s or an equivalent level degree) in computer science or related field. Prior experience in application software development, cloud technologies, logs shipment infrastructure and containerization would be considered an advantage but it is not a requirement.

Operations and Support Fellows

Operations and Support Fellows will be involved in overseeing and improving complex and time-sensitive systems that enable a portofolio of business applications to support a highly successfull patent filing treaty.

Candidates should be currently pursuing or be a recent graduate of an advanced degree program (Master’s or an equivalent level degree) in computer science or related field. Prior experience in operations, DevOps, CI/CD, cloud technologies, logs shipment infrastructure, containerization and application management would be considered as an advantage but it is not a requirement.

Following initial screening, candidates may be requested to take a technical and/or aptitude test.
Note: Candidates may apply to both Fellowship positions, if they meet the requirements. A separate application must be submitted for each type of Fellowship position applied for.

Deadline for submissions

Although applications may be submitted at any time during 2019, candidates for a fellowship in 2019 should ensure that their complete applications are submitted by email by June 30, 2019.
